Goondiwindi Police Fundraising Trek

Story

GOONDIWINDI POLICE ARE TREKKING TO BASE CAMP, MT EVEREST

In order to raise much needed funds for Police Legacy, a wonderful and worthy cause.

Queensland Police Legacy is a registered charity who supports families and educates children of fallen police officers ensuring they receive the ongoing financial support they need into the future.

Four police officers from the Goondiwindi Police Station; Dwaune Mendes, Jess Di Marco, Skye Thew and Joan Ryan set off in April this year on the greulling 124km trek through the Himalayas in the hope to raise much needed funds.  The route, dubbed by many as 'The Steps to Heaven' will take the four officers on a trail of self-discovery as they hike through beautiful forests, Sherpa villages and glacial moraines.  Dwaune, Jess, Skye and Joan will be challenged at every bend on the trek, reaching a maximum altitude of 5320 meters.  They will live amongst the locals for 18 days, experiencing the traditional Napalese Culture, all while enduring temperatures below minus 15 degrees.

We'd love your support and we'd love to raise at least $2,000 for Poice Legacy.  Don't forget all donations go straight to Police Legacy and are tax deductible.

    The Queensland Police Legacy Scheme

The Queensland Police Legacy Scheme (Queensland Police Legacy) was established in 1971 and assists the eligible dependent families of deceased Queensland Police Officers, Queensland Police Officers whose spouse or partner has died and Queensland Police families with a parent suffering from a terminal illness. The primary focus of this assistance has always been to provide the financial resources to ensure that the dependent children of those families receive the education their parents intended for them, that they deserve and that they may have been deprived of due to circumstance. Queensland Police Legacy holds Australian Taxation Office Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status so all donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
